Buying t-shirts on-line is not as complicated as you may think. Even though they come in different fits, basically most of them are built similarly. Standard human body features make the process of buying tees on the net, without worrying about the exact size, quite easy.

What you should consider are two basic variables: height and width. A t-shirt's height is measured from the waist to the connection between the collar and the shoulder. The width can be either waist or chest width. Most manufacturers give chest width as an indicator.

Now, what you should do is choose a favorite t-shirt, one that you have worn and washed a few times, and measure its height and width (See the sketch bellow to make thing clearer). Compare your measurements with the details that the manufacturer gives regarding sizes. if the chest width that the manufacturer gives is disproportionally large it means that they display the perimeter of the chest – just divide it by two.

Don't forget to read about why t-shirts shrink before you select the size you think you are. If your favorite t-shirt is exactly the same size as the manufacturer's, take one size larger.

Unfortunately, there is no universal t-shirt size standardization. However, most vendors will be kind enough to replace the product you purchased if it does not fit (unless you have given it a wash, or have spilled coffee all over it).
